Support The Music Box: Where Kids Play, Learn and Create!
We, Isa and Kyle, are launching The Music Box —a daycare and afterschool music program located in Richmond, CA. Built on our unique KISA Method (Kinetic Inquiry Socio-emotional Arts), our mission is to nurture creativity, curiosity, and community through music, movement, science and artistic expression.
What is KISA?
The KISA Method is a child-centered approach that integrates movement, hands-on exploration, and emotional awareness into the learning process. By combining music, storytelling, and play, KISA encourages children to develop confidence, critical thinking, and self-expression in a supportive and engaging environment.
What We’re Building:
- The Music Box Daycare (Ages 4-6) – A Reggio-inspired arts-based preschool
- The Music Box Afterschool Music School (Elementary & Middle School Age) – Group lessons in Youth Choir, Guitar, Ukulele, Kids Rock Band and more.
- Community Events – All-ages Ukulele Club, Open Mics, and House Concerts
What We’ve Accomplished So Far:
- Secured Our Site – We have a facility ready to transform into a vibrant learning space.
- Navigating Licensing Requirements – We are actively working through the legal and regulatory steps to ensure a safe, accredited program.
- Developed Our Methodology & Pedagogy – The KISA Method is a carefully crafted approach that integrates movement, inquiry-based learning, and social-emotional development.
- Extensive Experience in Early Childhood & Music Education – With decades of experience teaching both preschool and school-aged children, we have designed and managed curriculum, facilitated home visits, and led parenting workshops.
- Strong Educational Background – Both of us hold bachelor’s degrees; Kyle also has a Master’s in Early Childhood Education and a Multi-Subject Teaching Credential.
